The Meaning Behind The Name

SV, which stands for Some Value, is inspired by the Bible verse 1 Timothy 4:7-8:

"Physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come"

As I began the process of starting this private practice, I spent a lot of time in prayer, reflecting on many aspects of the business—including the name. One verse that kept coming to mind was 1 Timothy 4:7-8, and I couldn’t shake the phrase "Some Value." It was convicting for me.

I started to think about how much time, effort, and money is invested in my physical health—whether it’s in fitness, nutrition, or appearance. But how much time and effort am I pouring into my walk with Jesus? Am I training for godliness with the same intentionality?

"Some Value" should not be misunderstood as "little value"; rather, it acknowledges that while bodily training—such as nutrition planning and physical activity—has its place and importance, there is something infinitely more valuable: Godliness. This verse challenges us to recognize that, while we are called to care for our bodies, it is our spiritual growth that holds ultimate, eternal significance.

There are two common temptations: neglecting the care of our bodies altogether, or idolizing them by focusing too much on physical appearance or performance. But as believers, we are called to honor God with both our physical health and our spiritual growth. Training for godliness—through prayer, studying the Word, serving others, and sharing the gospel—is infinitely more valuable, as it holds promise not just for this life but for the life to come.
